Inter-Library Loan items must be renewed through ILL

What’s This Error?

Sometimes, patrons place requests in MNLINK for items that are owned by a library in SELCO. The MNLINK software is able to redirect the request to Horizon so it can be filled in-region. Unfortunately, the request in Horizon still gets a MNLINK ILL number attached and that prevents certain Horizon functions from working. Renewing is one of those functions.

This error is the result of that problem.

What to do?

Fortunately, there is a simple workaround: check the item in and then check it back out to the patron. This will create a new transaction in Horizon, with no MNLINK ILL number, that will work normally. 

Variations

This same problem can prevent you from canceling a request. In that case, you will get a similar-looking error that reads:

ILL requests cannot be deleted. Other selected requests, if any, were deleted.

The workaround for this error is similar to that described above: check the item out to the patron and then check it in.
