Understanding Patron Rollover
SELCO provides an automated way that you can “roll” your patrons from one BType (A - Adult; J - Juvenile; YA - Young Adult) to another BType based on their age and the BType Rollover Table in Horizon.
Let’s review what a BType is. BType stands for Borrower Type; it controls checkout periods, number of renewals, who can check out what items, and fine rates, etc. If your library differentiates any of these values based on the patron’s age, you will have to “roll” the patron from one BType to the next. To avoid having to do this manually you can have a BType Rollover Table set up for you in Horizon.
You can see if your library currently has entries in the BType Rollover Table by running the BCA SELCO -> Shared Reports -> SELCO Delivered Reports -> Understanding Horizon Settings -> Btype Rollover Table report. If you need to create values (e.g. Fromtype - current BType, Age - age to change BTypes, Totype - BType to once patron hits the Age) for your library or make any changes to existing values, simply email the Help Desk with your new/changed values and SELCO will make the required changes. You must include the From and To BTypes and the age.
