Citrix Workspace Install Instructions - Horizon Libraries

These are the instructions for installing the Citrix Workspace App on your computer so you can access Horizon.  If you have problems you may need to contact your local IT support, School IT, or the SELCO Help Desk.


The user needs to be logged into the computer with ADMINISTRATOR rights.  Do not attempt to install with a general user account.  

Install Instructions

These instructions are for new installations. To update a computer that has Citrix Workspace App installed, go to the next section of this document.  To find out if you need to install or update, check for a Citrix icon on the bottom right of your screen. 

The citrix app icon should look like this in the system tray: 

If you don’t see it on your screen, go to https://citrixatl.sirsidynix.net/Citrix/CitrixATLWeb/  and login to Citrix.  The icon will appear.  Make sure you close the Citrix window before upgrading.

Login to your computer with an Administrator level account.

NOTE: YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN WITH ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS

Click Download Citrix Workspace app for Windows.



CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe file will be downloaded to your Downloads folder. On some browsers, you will see it on a bar on the bottom of your screen, on other browsers, look for a Download Icon in the upper right. After downloading, click on the downloaded file to run the Citrix Workspace App installer


If you get a screen that states “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”, click Yes..


Click Start

Click the box to the left of “I accept the license agreement” so that it is checked, then click Next


Do not enable App Protection. Just click Install.  You will then see another window with the status of the installation.


Click Finish.  (Do not click Add Account - this is for authenticating to Citrix using email addresses.  SELCO has not set up Citrix for this type of authentication)


Now open a browser and goto https://citrixatl.sirsidynix.net/vpn/index.html.  SirsiDynix recommends using Chrome, but it does work with IE, Edge and Firefox. Login with your Citrix account (for example, selco233) and your password.


You will see this screen. Click Detect Receiver. 

***Check the box next to Always open these types of links in the associated app***  then click Open Citrix Receiver Launcher.  

The popup window will disappear.

Citrix will open with your Horizon icon. 

Congratulations, you did it


After the install is finished, if you logged in with an admin account and you normally login as staff, then logout and login with your normal account.

Login to Citrix as you normally do. Click to launch Horizon. If you are prompted to allow access to your local files, make sure to give it all access and check the box to never ask again. Horizon should come up and you can login normally with your Horizon user ID and password.
