Restart procedure for Blue Screen Errors on public PCs
If you're seeing a blue screen or the Auto Repair screen on startup it means that Windows is trying to finish an update or self-correct a missing or corrupted file, but it can't because Deep Freeze keeps rolling it back. To correct this, we've had much success with a muli-restart protocol.
login as Administrator
turn off Deep Freeze AKA polar bear (detailed instructions here)
turning off Deep Freeze with trigger the first restart/reboot
after the first restart, log in again as administrator
select Restart from the Start menu, this restart will allow Windows to repair itself without it being wiped by Deep Freeze.
log in again as Administrator, and turn on Deep Freeze this triggers Deep Freeze to take a new snapshot, with the update or repair intact.
at this point, it should be ready for patron use again, or if it was unsuccessful please contact the help desk for further instructions/troubleshooting
